In this seventh episode of the new Midwifery Hour series Sue Macdonald, Midwifery Educationalist; Co-editor, Mayes Midwifery was joined by Jenny Clarke, ‘Jenny the Midwife’ and Maeve O’Connell, Senior Lecturer, Cardiff University.
The impact of COVID-19 has taken its toll on everyone’s physical and mental health.
As we head into winter and further lockdowns and restrictions across the UK and globally, it’s more important than ever that midwives look after their wellbeing and recognise warning signs, and have the techniques, to take care of both themselves and women and babies in their care.
Creating your own sanctuary box, walking in nature, showing gratitude to others, napping, holding an optimistic outlook, social gratitude from others, positive relationships and kindness along with a great sense of humour are among some of the strategies and approaches discussed that everyone can use to enhance personal well-being.
This episode of the Maternity & Midwifery Hour – proudly supported by MATFLIX – focused on ‘Caring for yourself and others’
Host Sue Macdonald (Co-editor, Mayes Midwifery textbook) was joined by Jenny Clarke (‘Jenny the Midwife’) and Maeve O’Connell (Senior Lecturer, Cardiff University).
